Copper was and still is an important component of the Ayurvedic system of medicine in India.
But why? Because copper and its alloys exhibit impressive antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties.
When a microbe lands on copper, its ions blast the pathogen like an onslaught of missiles. Holes are punched in its coating, creating free radicals that kill the microbe.

Now here's the real deal - how copper and silver are mixed with cotton:
A specialized technology to embed the copper and silver into the outer layer of the cloth mask is used in our masks. These are automatically weaved into the cotton like a mesh. The tech empowers the mask to release copper and silver ions only when needed - when a pathogen comes in contact with the outer layer of the mask. Thus the mask remains effective against several rounds of washes and use. It lasts far longer than other masks available in the market today.
Note that these metals are NOT SPRAYED over the cotton, which (to be honest) is practically useless.
Despite the rising costs of raw materials and hiccups in the supply chain, We pride ourselves on making the face masks affordable and durable for American families. These copper and silver-infused masks are machine washable and reusable (unlike other disposable masks).
Every earloop mask has elastic around the mouthpiece so it fits you snugly, similar to those masks containing nose wiring.
Still, if you don’t want the ones with earloops, you can have the other variant with the head straps. (the current headstrap design has been discontinued. If you need a headstrap mask, please check our organic cotton mask with headstraps.)
These are copper-infused 3-layered masks so you can safely rely on their effectiveness.
Since the outer covering contains copper and silver, the inner layers remain protected. As such, these masks typically last much longer than the other 3-layer masks.

How often to wash face masks?
We recommend reading this article to make a decision on how often to clean your copper face masks. We also recommend buying not just one mask but a pack of 5 or 10 so you can collect them and wash them once a week. The copper and silver effectiveness lasts for 15 washes. So a pack of 10 face masks can last for this year of 2020 for you. You will be able to continue using the cloth masks for longer as the fabric is of good quality. If you are using washing machine to wash your copper face masks, we recommend putting them in a pillow case.
What are the care instructions for this mask?
Machine wash on warm. Tumble dry high. Use only NON-chlorine bleach if desired. Do not add chemicals or disinfectants to this product.

Which is your best face mask for germs?
The best face masks for germs are the ones with the most filtration capabilities and the the ones with good fit. While the medical grade masks are reserved for health professionals, the civilians are asked to use KN95, 3 ply surgical masks and cloth masks. CDC recommends 2 layers of dense weave cloth for the reusable cloth masks and the one we have here is three layer with antimicrobial cloth on the top layer (2 layers for patterns). We ask you to use your best judgement in picking the mask that fits your needs. It is also important to note that the germ masks are only fully effective when used with other proper safety measures, such as social distancing, hand-washing, and avoiding touching the face.
