Contour shape, eggcrate surface
Our Eggcrate Latex Contour Pillow is GOLS certified organic Dunlop latex, molded with a dip for your head and a raised curve on each side: one 4 inches tall, one 5 inches. The top is shaped like an egg carton, so it cushions your head with a soft, massage-like feel. It comes in Medium with a zippered organic cotton cover.
Not sure which pillow? Take the 1-minute pillow quiz, or see our picks by sleep position below.

Rows of small peaks on top give a little under your head and neck, so the pillow feels cushioned while the latex underneath keeps you supported.

Turn the pillow around to switch sides. Use the lower edge on your back, the higher edge on your side.

Latex has an open-cell structure, and the pinholes through the pillow let heat and moisture escape. With good care, it lasts five years or more.
Our picks
Rest your head in the dip and your neck on the edge that fits your sleep position.

The higher edge fills the space between your head, neck and shoulder.

The lower edge supports the curve of your neck so your head doesn't tilt forward.

Turn the pillow to whichever edge feels right, or move between them through the night.
Stomach sleeper? A contour shape usually sits too high. Try our Shredded Latex Pillow, which you can make lower and flatter.
Two heights in one
Rest your head in the dip and your neck on one of the raised edges. The edge heights are drawn to scale.
Supports the curve of your neck while keeping your head low, so it doesn't tip forward.
Fills the gap between your head and shoulder when you lie on your side.
One firmness: Medium, a balance of cushioning and support for both back and side sleepers. Want a smooth top or a Firm option? See our Latex Contour Pillow.
What's inside

Latex starts as the milky sap of rubber trees. It's whipped, poured into a mold and baked using the Dunlop method, which makes a dense, supportive, durable foam. We use GOLS certified organic latex from Sri Lanka, molded into one solid piece with the eggcrate top.

Smooth, soft and breathable. The cotton is grown without toxic pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers, and the zipper lets you take the cover off to spot-clean it.

Care
Pro tip: a washable pillow cover makes care much easier, and keeps spills, dust and allergens off the latex. Shop pillow covers →
Neither the cover nor the latex is machine washable. Take the cover off, dab the spot on each with a sponge, cold water and mild detergent, and let both dry fully before you zip it back up.
Long exposure to direct sunlight, or heat above 85°F, breaks latex down and shortens its life.
Latex can tear if it's pulled hard. Unpack it gently, and ease the pillow in and out of its cover.
Vacuum the surface about once a month, avoid eating and drinking on it, and spot-clean spills right away.
Latex is the white, milky sap harvested from rubber trees. It’s turned into foam and used in pillows, mattresses, mattress toppers, bedding, etc., for its comfort and durability. What makes latex stand out is that it’s a natural, renewable material, especially when it’s certified organic (by GOLS). Rubber trees can be tapped for years without being cut down, which makes latex a more sustainable choice compared to synthetic foams made from petroleum.
The different types of latex are -
When someone says "latex," they're not necessarily talking about the natural stuff from rubber trees. It could be synthetic, blended, or natural - the term alone doesn't tell you much.
If a product is labeled "organic latex" or "natural latex," don't just take their word for it. Ask to see certifications that prove its purity. Companies that use genuine organic/natural latex are usually happy to display their certifications, as they take pride in the quality.
A regular contour pillow has a dip in the middle and raised edges on the front and back that follow the natural curve of your neck. Unlike a flat pillow, it's shaped to keep your head and neck in line with your spine.
The Eggcrate Contour Pillow has the same shape, but its top is molded into an eggcrate pattern of small peaks. They give a little under your head and neck for a softer, massage-like feel.
For a lot of people, yes. The pillow is shaped to follow the natural curve of your neck and keep your head, neck and spine in line, and the eggcrate top adds a softer, cushioned feel. Many people find it more comfortable than a flat pillow, especially on their back or side.
If you sleep on your side or back and find the standard pillow design too uncomfortable (for example, you wake up with a stiff neck), then an eggcrate contour pillow is the next step. That's what it's good for - being a different (and oftentimes better) alternative to the everyday pillow.
Think of the eggcrate contour pillow as having two gentle slopes (lower and higher) with a dip in the middle.
If you’re a back sleeper, your head rests right in that dip while the lower slope (4") supports the curve of your neck.
If you’re a side sleeper, place your head in the dip (same as with back sleeping), but rest your neck on the higher slope (5"), which fills the space between your shoulder and head.
Our eggcrate contour pillows can last 5+ years with good care. They don’t flatten out and lose shape the way cheaper synthetic pillows do. The natural resilience of latex keeps the pillow comfortable, night after night, without the early sag you get with most regular pillows.
No, don’t put your eggcrate contour pillow in the washing machine. Soaking it in water or tossing it in a wash cycle can damage the foam and break it down over time.
If it needs cleaning, spot-clean only. Here’s how -
Mix a little mild detergent with warm water. Dip a clean cloth/sponge in the solution, gently blot the stain, and avoid rubbing too hard. Then, use another damp cloth/sponge to wipe away any soap residue. Let the pillow air dry completely, but keep it out of direct sunlight.
To keep it cleaner longer, we recommend using a pillow protector.
It depends on what you like in a pillow. Shredded latex is made from very small pieces of latex foam, which makes the pillow more adjustable and moldable. You can fluff it, scrunch it, or even remove some fill to get the exact height and feel you want. It’s great if you like a softer, more customizable pillow.
Solid latex, on the other hand, gives you a more consistent feel. It’s bouncier and more responsive, and it tends to retain its shape better over time, which is ideal if you prefer a pillow that stays in place without shifting.
A Dunlop latex core and a Talalay latex core are made differently and feel different as a result. Dunlop latex is made by whipping natural rubber sap into a froth, pouring it into a mold all at once, and baking it. As it bakes, the heavier particles settle toward the bottom, which gives Dunlop a denser feel. It produces a durable foam that offers strong support, which is why we use it in our pillows.
Talalay latex goes through a few extra steps. After the sap is poured into the mold, it’s partially filled, then vacuum-sealed to evenly distribute the foam. It’s flash-frozen, then baked. This process creates a fluffier latex with soft density that feels more airy and plush.
If you like a denser, more supportive feel, a Dunlop latex pillow is the way to go. If you prefer more cushioning and consistency, a Talalay latex pillow might be more your style.
No. Our eggcrate contour pillow actually sleeps cool. Latex has an open-cell structure, which means air can move through it more freely than with dense, synthetic foams like memory foam. On top of that, we add small perforations throughout the pillow. This helps heat and moisture escape instead of getting trapped inside.
The pillow cover matters, too. Ours is made from breathable organic cotton, which doesn’t trap heat like polyester blends often do.
All in all, organic latex is temperature-neutral, which means it doesn’t overheat or feel too cold. It just stays comfortably cool throughout the night, especially compared to memory foam and other conventional pillows that trap body heat.
Many people find it more comfortable. The contour shape keeps your head, neck and shoulders in line while you sleep, and the latex supports without being stiff. It doesn't sink unevenly or lose its shape overnight.
A pillow isn't a medical treatment, so if you have ongoing pain, talk to your doctor.
In a lot of ways, yes. Latex eggcrate pillows are better at cooling, more responsive and supportive, and last longer than memory foam.
Memory foam eggcrate pillows tend to feel stuffy and slow to respond. They also hold onto heat, which can make you feel warmer at night.
Plus, if you go with organic latex, you get a natural, plant-based material instead of a synthetic foam.
When it’s brand new, you might notice a light, vanilla-like scent. That’s just the natural smell of latex. It’s not toxic or chemical like the scent of memory foam, and it usually fades within a few days. Just airing the pillow out for a bit will help it clear up faster.
An additional cover is optional, but we recommend adding one, yes. It helps protect your pillow from spills, stains, and everyday wear, keeping it fresher for longer. Go with something breathable, like an organic cotton cover or a bamboo cover, so you don’t lose that cool feel latex is known for.
Nope. The eggcrate contour pillow doesn’t need any fluffing. It’s a single solid piece of latex foam that holds its shape on its own. No squishing or refluffing needed.
Yes, no problem at all. Our eggcrate contour pillows work great on adjustable beds. They stay supportive whether you're lying flat or propped up. And they’re dense enough to hold their shape under a weighted blanket, without getting crushed.
Look for certifications that are trusted and verified. The big ones are -
If an eggcrate latex contour pillow has a mix of these, you’re getting one of the best there is.
