NOTE: If you are buying a Queen, King, or Cal King, you can choose Split Queen, Split King, or Split Cal King, which will give you the inside layers split in half. Note that the mattress cover isn't split, only the mattress foam layers. In this way, couples can choose their desired firmness preference for their side of the mattress. For a traditional Split King setup with two completely separate mattresses (ideal for a split adjustable bed base or split bed frame), we recommend two Twin XL mattresses be used closely together. Unfortunately, we do not offer any mattress sizes to make a traditional Split Queen or traditional Split Cal King setup possible.

Use a waterproof mattress protector over your mattress. Once a month, air out the mattress for a few hours. Every few weeks, vacuum the dust, dirt, and other particles away from the top of the mattress. Rotate the mattress from head to toe every few months.
Soak up the spilled liquid, spray the affected area with a mixture of white distilled vinegar and water (or lemon juice), sprinkle some baking soda over the mattress, and let it rest in an area with ventilation. After 8 hours, remove the baking soda with a vacuum, check for any odor or stain, and let the mattress dry entirely before putting it back.
Avoid drying the organic latex mattress in direct sunlight. Avoid using hydrogen peroxide. Avoid using the mattress before it is completely dry. Avoid washing any of the layers or the cover. They should not be placed in a dryer.
Latex is a natural product found beneath the bark of mature rubber trees. The milky white liquid that seeps from the rubber tree is collected and then processed to create either natural Talalay latex foam (softer) or natural Dunlop latex foam (firmer).
Natural latex foam has a number of unique properties that make it ideal for use in mattress construction, including durability, breathability, resilience, and a willingness to conform to the body's contours. Plus, natural latex is a great choice in terms of having firmer, more "bouncy" mattress support. Latex beds are springy and come with a buoyant feeling, thus naturally supporting your posture.
Memory foam mattresses, on the other hand, practically ‘sink’ your body into itself and may give you aches and pains later on due to reduced support. Need some level of ‘softness’ but want to sleep on a ‘firm’ mattress? An all-latex mattress solves this exact problem. It’s somewhat soft, like foam-based mattresses, but since it has a natural buoyant feeling, it provides just the right amount of firmness.
Latex mattresses are processed in two different ways - Dunlop or Talalay. Talalay latex is fluffy throughout and typically a bit softer and less dense than Dunlop latex. As a result, Talalay latex mattresses offer more cushioning and pressure relief.
We didn't want to sacrifice support but instead wanted to aim for a balance between comfort and support. Thus, we chose Dunlop latex for our mattress.
We can proudly say that our natural organic latex mattresses do NOT contain the harmful levels of chemicals found in conventional mattresses. We produce latex to the highest possible organic standard (≥95%), and it has been certified by the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS), ensuring the healthiest possible bedroom environment for you and your family!
Turmerry mattresses do not require a box spring, but a mattress foundation or bed base is recommended. A good bed frame can provide the entire mattress with great support as well as protection from impurities on the ground. Additionally, we recommend natural bedding products like an organic cotton mattress cover, mattress protector, duvet cover, comforter, blanket throw, etc. Good bedding accessories and bed frames can make for a more comfortable and good night's sleep!
No, Turmerry doesn't provide free white glove delivery. However, we do offer free shipping across the contiguous USA. Setting up our mattresses is easy, too! They're shipped in four (or five) compact boxes that you can easily carry to your bedroom, open up, and combine the natural and organic materials within.
A twin mattress is the smallest standard mattress size in the US and measures 38" by 75". This type of mattress is the best option for growing children or young adults.
The average room size recommended for a twin latex mattress is 7 feet by 10 feet. This means twin mattresses are ideal for smaller bedrooms, bunk beds, etc.
A twin XL mattress is 5 inches longer than the standard twin mattress and measures 38” x 80”. This type of mattress is the best choice for teens, single adults, or taller individuals.
The average room size recommended for a twin XL-size latex mattress is 9 feet 6 inches by 10 feet 6 inches. This means twin XL mattresses are ideal for college dorm rooms or anywhere else with limited space.
Also known as a double mattress, a full-size mattress measures 54" by 75" and is best suited for single sleepers. It's not always a good option for couples, unless they don't mind sleeping curled up all night.
A full-size latex mattress fits into almost any room without making it look crowded. However, the minimum recommended room size for a full-size bed is 9 feet 6 inches by 10 feet 6 inches.
Queen-size mattresses are the most popular mattress sizes in the US market, measuring 60" by 80". They are one of the best options for couples, single parents who share the bed with their child, or single sleepers who prefer a lot of space to sprawl out. These mattresses are also a great option for pet parents who share their beds with furry friends.
The recommended room size for a queen-size latex mattress is 10 feet by 10 feet.
Measuring 76” by 80”, sleeping on a king-size mattress is a luxurious experience. They are the widest standard mattress size available and are best suited for couples who prefer extra space to sprawl out or for parents who co-sleep with their children.
The recommended room size for a king mattress is 12 feet by 12 feet.
Four inches longer and four inches narrower than a king-size mattress, a California king mattress can accommodate two tall adult sleepers comfortably, along with an extra (smaller) sleeper. These mattresses usually measure 72 inches by 84 inches and are great for sleepers who are 6 feet or taller.
The minimum recommended room size for a California king latex mattress is 12 feet by 12 feet.
You can choose from four options - soft latex firmness, medium latex firmness, firm latex firmness, and extra firm latex firmness - each offering unique levels of comfort and support. Whether you are a side sleeper, back sleeper, or stomach sleeper, you'll definitely find what you're looking for!
Let's start with the soft firmness first -
If you're looking for softer latex mattresses that offer a greater amount of plushness and cushioning, then the 'soft' firmness option is right up your alley! Soft mattresses are generally recommended for lightweight side sleepers and back sleepers weighing below 130 lbs.
If you're looking for a natural latex bed with a medium-firm feel, providing a balance of comfort and support, then the 'medium' firmness option is your go-to! Medium-firm mattresses are generally recommended for average-weight side, back, and stomach sleepers weighing between 130 and 230 lbs.
If you're looking for a latex mattress with gentle yet firm support, ensuring a sturdy posture for your body without too much sinkage, then the 'firm' firmness option suits you well! Firm mattresses are generally recommended for heavyweight side and back sleepers weighing above 230 lbs.
If you're looking for a latex mattress with fiercely firm support that sacrifices a bit of its cushioning to provide enhanced strength, then the 'extra firm' firmness option fits the bill! Extra-firm mattresses are generally recommended for heavyweight stomach sleepers weighing above 230 lbs.
There are four different types of latex that are being used in the latex mattress market. This includes natural, organic, synthetic, and blended latex. Here's a breakdown of each -
Harvested from organically grown rubber trees (Hevea Brasiliensis), this type of latex is naturally processed to create foam layers. Plus, mattresses made of natural latex feel incredible and represent a great long-term investment. The best part is that natural latex mattresses are generally considered safe and are not treated with toxic chemicals.
Organic latex is natural latex that comes with an organic seal of approval. Latex mattresses that are organic contain ≥95% organic latex, the highest possible standard. It is the cleanest that you can buy for your health, the fairest for those working in the rubber industry, and the safest for Mother Earth.
Synthetic latex is the cheapest type of latex and is usually constructed from Styrene-Butadiene Rubber. Mattresses made of synthetic latex involve the use of a variety of synthetic materials that are toxic to human health. Also, they have a much shorter lifespan and durability than the natural and organic ones.
A combination of natural latex and synthetic additives, blended latex mattresses usually contain 15 to 30 percent natural latex, with the rest being synthetic.
While both provide excellent cushioning, natural latex offers a more responsive and buoyant feel compared to the contouring hug of memory foam. Latex is also more breathable, ensuring a cooler sleep experience.
While gel memory foam incorporates cooling properties, natural latex surpasses it in breathability and durability. Latex mattresses tend to maintain a more consistent feel and offer robust support over time.
A natural latex mattress is often more responsive and breathable than hybrid mattresses, which combine modern spring coils (individually pocketed coils) with a foam comfort layer. Latex provides a balance of support and comfort without the motion transfer associated with hybrids.
Compared to traditional innerspring mattresses, natural latex offers superior motion isolation, contouring comfort, and durability. Latex mattresses tend to outperform their traditional mattress counterparts, like the innerspring, in delivering a comfortable and long-lasting sleep surface.
Just like any other major change in your life, it takes time for your body to adjust to sleeping on a new organic latex mattress. Depending on the person, it can take anywhere from a few nights to a few weeks to get used to sleeping on a latex mattress. Don't expect to be able to jump right on your new mattress and immediately feel comfortable. Instead, take a few days to slowly get used to sleeping on your new mattress.
During the initial adjustment period, it's important to continue using the latex mattress, even if it feels too firm. If you find that the mattress is still too firm after a few weeks, you can try using a latex mattress topper to make it more comfortable.
Some stores may sell counterfeits or lower-quality products. To ensure you're getting a latex mattress that meets your needs, it's important to buy from a reputed, certified store. This will ensure that you are getting a high-quality product that will provide you with years of comfortable sleep. Also, when you are considering which store to purchase from, it is important to read reviews and compare prices. This will help you make the best decision for your needs and budget.
There are a lot of factors that go into determining the cost of a latex mattress. The type of latex - Dunlop or Talalay, the layer thickness, and the firmness level all play a part in the price. Also, organic latex mattresses tend to be more expensive than synthetic options. That being said, as a general rule, you can expect to pay between $800 and $2,000 for a high-quality natural and organic latex mattress. Of course, there are always cheaper options available, but they may not provide the same level of comfort and support.
Latex mattresses are known for their durability and long lifespan. In fact, many latex mattresses come with a 20-year warranty. While other types of mattresses start to show signs of wear and tear after just a few years, latex mattresses can last 15-20 years or more. This is due to the high-quality materials used in construction and the unique resilience of latex.
Latex mattresses are often lauded for their comfort and support, but some hot sleepers worry that they may sleep hot. However, latex is actually one of the coolest sleeping materials available, so you don't have to worry about sleeping hot. The open-cell structure of latex allows air to circulate freely, and it doesn't retain body heat the way that other materials do.
A latex hybrid mattress combines the support of modern spring coils with the pressure relief of a latex foam comfort layer. The coils are usually pocketed, meaning they're individually wrapped to minimize motion transfer. They also provide excellent airflow, which allows you to sleep cool.
Unlike polyurethane foams, memory foam mattresses, or innerspring mattresses, latex does not sag prematurely and will have a longer lifespan for years to come. It is one of the most durable materials on the market, and it's designed to retain its shape.
The presence of certain organic certifications when choosing a natural latex mattress can ensure that the entire mattress is made with natural/organic latex and meets strict environmental and social responsibility criteria.
GOLS, or the Global Organic Latex Standard, is an internationally acknowledged certification guaranteeing the quality of latex products with minimal chemical inputs. The foam layers that are used in many all-latex mattresses are composed of GOLS-certified organic latex, ensuring they're safe, eco-friendly, and durable.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) stands as the foremost standard in textile processing, placing restrictions on the use of toxic dyes, bleaches, and other chemicals throughout the textile production process. The latex and organic wool layers within all-natural latex mattresses can often be found encased by a GOTS-certified organic cotton cover for a pure green mattress experience. Even the natural fire barrier found within an all-natural latex mattress can be GOTS-certified organic wool instead of fire-retardant chemicals.
OEKO-TEX is a global standard for environmentally friendly brands, retailers, and manufacturers in the textile and leather industry. It has a list of over one hundred substances, including chemicals and metals. OEKO-TEX sets limits for the emission of harmful substances such as formaldehyde and other Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), which are linked to ozone smog, respiratory illnesses, and memory impairment.
LGA Quality certification is a mark of excellence that assures a product will meet or exceed the longevity claims made by the manufacturer. The certification process is rigorous and involves multiple tests that assess a product's durability, performance, and safety.
Eco-INSTITUT certification is a voluntary, independent certification process that assesses products and materials for their compliance with international standards for VOC emissions. The certification is based on rigorous testing according to strict emission criteria set by eco-INSTITUT. This certification provides reassurance to consumers that a product is safe and environmentally friendly, and it can give manufacturers a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
All of these certifications, including some others like GREENGUARD GOLD and CertiPUR-US (for memory foam), stand for customer confidence and high product safety standards before, during, and after the mattress manufacturing process. Therefore, when you are buying a mattress, consider the one that has at least one or more of these five certifications. This helps you confirm that the mattress materials are exactly what the manufacturer says they are.
Latex and wool may have a faint, natural scent, but it's typically mild and disappears within hours. For latex, you may smell a slight vanilla-like odor, while for wool, you may smell an earthy or sheep-like odor. Sensitive individuals might find the odor stronger, but for most, it's a subtle and fleeting experience. We recommend airing out the mattress for quicker dissipation of the odor.

It's crucial to understand what you're getting into before choosing a product that you'll use for a third of your life. We ask that you try it out for at least 30 days before making a return request, because making such a significant decision takes time.
You can return the mattress after 30 days, up until 120 days of our delivery date.
