Two people sleeping on queen mattress
      1. Which one is better - A queen natural latex mattress or a queen memory foam mattress?

Most mattresses sold today are full of toxic chemical agents that can be harmful to your health. These chemicals can off-gas into the air, causing headaches, respiratory issues, and life-threatening cancer. Some of the most common chemicals found in traditional mattresses, like memory foam, include formaldehyde, benzene, and chlorofluorocarbons. That's why it's always better to go for healthy mattress options like natural latex.

With a queen natural latex mattress, you'll sleep better knowing you're doing your part to protect the environment, and your body will thank you for the support and comfort an organic latex mattress provides. Moreover, natural latex foam is also extremely durable, so you won't have to replace your mattress as often.

      1. What are the other natural latex mattress sizes?

Here's a list of other standard US natural latex mattress sizes:

      Twin Natural Latex Mattress

      Twin mattress dimensions

A twin-size latex mattress, also known as a 'single mattress,' is the smallest US standard mattress size, measuring approximately 38 inches wide and 75 inches long. These mattresses are made of latex, which is a durable and comfortable material. Its smaller size makes it perfect for a child who has outgrown their crib but isn't quite ready for a full-size bed.

      Twin XL Natural Latex Mattress

      Twin XL mattress dimensions

Measuring 38 inches wide and 80 inches long, a twin XL mattress is slightly longer and wider than a standard twin mattress. This extra length and width can make all the difference when it comes to comfort, especially for taller people who often have trouble finding sheets that fit properly.

Most college dorm rooms require students to use twin XL mattresses, as they can easily fit into tight spaces and provide a comfortable sleeping surface for individuals of all heights.

      Full-Size Natural Latex Mattress

      Full mattress dimensions

A full-size mattress is 54 inches wide and 75 inches long. It is also sometimes referred to as a 'double mattress,' A full-size mattress is a good option for people who need more sleeping space than what a twin or twin XL mattress can provide but who don't want or need the extra width of a queen or king mattress.

Full mattresses are also a popular choice for single adult rooms and guest rooms because they offer ample sleeping space without taking up too much room in the room.

      King-Size Natural Latex Mattress

      King mattress dimensions

A king mattress size is 76 inches wide and 80 inches long. That's about the size of two twin XL beds placed together. King-size natural latex foam mattresses are a great option for couples who want plenty of space to sleep, pet parents who share their bed with their furry friends, parents who co-sleep with their children, or people who just want a lot of extra room to move around.

If you're looking for the ultimate in luxury and space, a king mattress is the way to go. Just keep in mind that you'll need a large bedroom to accommodate this size mattress - it won't fit in just any space!

      California King-Size Natural Latex Mattress

      California king mattress dimensions

A California king-size mattress is 72 inches wide and 84 inches long. This is the longest standard mattress size that is available on the market. A California king mattress is ideal for couples, families who co-sleep with their children, pet parents, and people who are tall.

      1. How much should you actually spend on a queen latex foam mattress?

The amount you should spend on a queen natural latex mattress will depend on a few factors. This includes your budget, sleeping position, preferred mattress firmness, and thickness level. However, you can expect to pay somewhere between $1000 and $2000 for a high-quality and durable queen-size natural latex mattress.

      1. What size sheet will fit a queen mattress?

Queen-size sheets are just the right size to fit a queen natural latex foam mattress, providing a snug and comfortable fit. Plus, they're easy to find and relatively affordable.

      1. What happens when you put a queen-size latex mattress on a full-size bed frame?

Full-size bed frames cannot fit queen-size latex mattresses. The mattress will hang over the edges of the frame, making it hard to get in and out of bed. Sleeping on an uneven surface will likely cause back pain as well. It is, therefore, strongly recommended that you stick with a full-size mattress unless you are also planning on upgrading your bed frame.

      1. What is the difference between a queen and king-size latex mattress?

Queen and king-size latex mattresses are both designed for couples or people who want more space to sleep. But there are a few key differences that set them apart. A queen mattress is typically 60 inches wide and 80 inches long, while a king mattress is usually 76 inches wide and 80 inches long. As a result, a king mattress offers about 38% more sleeping surface than a queen mattress. That extra space can be great for tall people or couples who like to spread out when they sleep.

Another difference between queen and king latex foam mattresses is the price. Queen mattresses are typically more affordable than king mattresses, making them a good option for budget-conscious shoppers.

      1. What is a split queen mattress?

A split queen mattress is a perfect bed for couples who want the space of a queen-size bed without sacrificing their own sleeping space. Each mattress measures 30 inches by 80 inches. When put together, they make up a standard queen size of 60 inches by 80 inches. This gives each person plenty of room to spread out and sleep comfortably without disturbing their partner.

      1. What is an Olympic queen mattress?

Olympic queen-size mattresses are 6 inches wider than traditional queen-size mattresses. Measuring 66 by 80 inches, they are a good choice for couples who need a little extra sleeping space but don't have room for a king-size mattress. Because of their size, Olympic queen mattresses can be more expensive than other queen-size mattresses.

      1. Is a queen mattress worth it?

Of course, yes! A queen mattress is a wise investment for anyone who values a good night's sleep. Not only is it big enough to comfortably accommodate two people, but it also provides plenty of room to move around. With a queen mattress, you'll never have to worry about feeling cramped or uncomfortable.

      1. What are the certifications to look for when buying a latex mattress?

Not all mattresses are truly organic. Most latex mattresses that are being sold today are synthetic latex mattresses and blended latex. Even if the mattresses are labeled organic, they may still use life-threatening chemicals and components.

You may want to look for certificates and labels that indicate the mattress has met the tests and standards to hold true to its so-called "organic claims." These are some main mattress certifications to look out for when you want to buy the best Latex Mattress:

      GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)

      gots certification

GOTS, or Global Organic Textile Standard, is the textile processing standard that limits the use of bleaches, toxic dyes, and other chemicals during textile production.

      GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard)

      gols certification

GOLS, or Global Organic Latex Standard, is a globally recognized certification that assures quality latex products with minimum chemical inputs.

      OEKO-TEX

      Oeko tex certification

The OEKO-TEX certification sets limits for the emission of toxic substances such as formaldehyde and other Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), which are linked to ozone smog, respiratory illnesses, and memory impairment.

      1. What to consider before choosing the best latex mattress?

Before you start your hustle to choose the best Latex Mattress, you must be aware of certain factors. Remember that each person has different needs when it comes to mattresses. Some people want a soft, comfortable bed, while others prefer something more supportive and firmer; there's no one-size-fits-all option for sleeping!

      Type of Latex Used

Not all latex mattresses are created equal. The type of latex used can have a significant impact on both the quality of the mattress and your health.

There are four main types of latex: natural, synthetic, organic, and blended. Natural latex is made from the sap of rubber trees and is considered to be the highest quality option. Organic latex is made from rubber trees that have been certified by the USDA as being grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Synthetic latex is made from petroleum-based products and is the cheapest option. However, it is also the least durable and can off-gas harmful chemicals. Blended latex is a mix of natural and synthetic latex. Although it is more durable than synthetic latex, it still contains harmful chemicals and does not have the same lifespan as natural latex.

A good latex mattress is one that is natural and organic, made from pure rubber tree sap, without the use of any harmful levels of chemicals. It's more expensive than other types of latex, but it's worth it for the peace of mind that comes with knowing you're sleeping on a toxic-free mattress.

Many manufacturers use marketing jargon to mislead their customers into thinking they're getting an organic and natural product when they're really not. So make sure to check the label carefully before buying.

      Number of Sleepers

If you're buying a Natural Latex Foam Mattress, it's important to consider how many people will be using it. A Queen Mattress, for instance, can accommodate two people comfortably, but if you have a larger family, you may want to consider a King or California King-Size Mattress.

      Mattress Firmness

Mattress firmness is important for Natural Latex Mattresses because it affects comfort and support. A firmer mattress that is too firm can cause aches and pains, while a softer mattress that is too soft may not provide enough support for your back and joints. The best way to choose the right firmness for your queen latex mattress is to consider your preferred sleeping position.

      • Side sleepers - If you are a side sleeper, you'll probably want a softer mattress that won't put pressure on your hips and shoulders.

      • Back sleepers - If you're a back sleeper, you'll have to choose a latex mattress with the perfect balance of firmness and softness (medium-firm) to keep the spine well-aligned.

      • Stomach sleepers - If you're a stomach sleeper, you'll need a firm mattress to prevent your body from sinking too deeply into the mattress.

      The Right Thickness

A thicker mattress will generally offer more support and durability, while a thinner mattress may be more suitable for lightweight sleepers. However, the decision of which thickness is right for you will come down to personal preference.

If you are unsure of which option to choose, it is always best to err on the side of caution and select the one that is at least 8 to 10 inches thick. This will ensure that you enjoy the maximum amount of support and comfort from your mattress.

      Certifications

Finding 100% natural latex can be tough, but organic certifications make it easier. GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard), for instance, is a very important certification when it comes to distinguishing between organic latex and synthetic/blended latex. Some latex are also Fair For Life Fair Trade certified, which ensures the latex is sourced from farmers who treat their workers fairly.

You can also make sure the other mattress components used by mattress companies are high-quality materials. Check whether they are certified for a completely eco-friendly, non-toxic mattress experience by seeking materials like a GOTS-certified organic cotton cover or a GOTS-certified organic wool layer.

      1. What size mattress topper is ideal for a mattress?

The mattress topper size should match the mattress size. So, Twin mattress toppers for twin mattresses, Twin XL mattress toppers for twin XL mattresses, Full mattress toppers for full mattresses, Queen mattress toppers for queen mattresses, King mattress toppers for king mattresses, and California king mattress toppers for California king mattresses.

      1. What are the best bedding accessories for a latex mattress?

To change the mattress feel or to make the mattress comfortable, one or two layers of bedding are crucial. This includes having a bed base (like a box spring or mattress foundation) to ensure sturdy support and an improved mattress lifespan.

Another type of bedding is a mattress cover, like organic cotton covers, that helps keep dirt and dust mites away from cheap as well as expensive mattress surfaces. An organic or natural mattress cover is ideal, as it is free of harmful chemicals, like fire retardant chemicals, that can harm your health.

If, after your mattress arrives, you find that you received a too-soft mattress, or if you find the mattress has a too-firm surface, then a mattress topper can help. Mattress toppers are useful to change the feel of the mattress, providing a firmer surface for a soft one or a softer surface for a firm one, ensuring adjustable firmness.

Then there are all the other bedding accessories, like bed sheets, blankets, comforters, duvet covers, etc., that help ensure the best possible aesthetic and sleep experience for your bed. We recommend going eco-friendly for your bedding, as it gels better with a latex mattress.

      Assembly and Care

      Mattress Assembly

      Assembling mattress

Putting together our mattresses might seem daunting at first glance, but we assure you that they are all incredibly easy if you know how. Turmerry mattresses are shipped in boxes to facilitate an efficient assembly process.

Once you're familiar with the components contained within these boxes, which aren't overly complicated, you'll be able to put them together in under 20 minutes. Let’s start with the Turmerry latex foam mattress.

      Natural and Organic Latex Mattress

Person placing one latex foam layer over the other

The Turmerry Latex Foam Mattress assembly process takes about 10-15 minutes. It is shipped in four different boxes to reduce weight. The first box includes a zippered organic cotton mattress cover as well as two complimentary pillows. The other three boxes include three latex foams of varying firmness.

Here’s how to assemble the Turmerry Latex Foam mattress:

      • Step 1 - Unpack the organic cotton zippered cover and place it on your bed frame.

      • Step 2 - Choose which layer you want as your latex mattress' base and place it over your organic cotton zip-up cover.

      • Step 3 - Stack the next two latex layers, one at a time.

      • Step 4 - Once you’re done setting up the three latex foam layers, zip up the organic cotton cover.

      • Step 5 - Proceed to make the bed as you see fit, and that’s it!

      Latex Hybrid Mattress

Latex Hybrid Mattress expanding after taken just out of box

The Turmerry Latex Hybrid Mattress comes compressed in just one box as opposed to three or four, making it simpler to unpack and carry than the foam or egg crate mattresses.

Here’s how you can efficiently set up our Latex Hybrid Mattress:

      • Step 1 - Move the box to the room you wish to keep your mattress in.

      • Step 2 - Break open the box and take out the mattress gently. Do not be hasty, as you may end up damaging it.

      • Step 3 - Remove the wrapping from the mattress and stash it in the box or put it in the garbage.

      • Step 4 - Place the mattress on the floor or bed base and let it expand. Ensure that there is nothing beneath or beside the mattress that could damage it.

      • Step 5 - You can use it right away, but we suggest you let it expand for a few hours first.

      • Step 6 - Once it has expanded fully, which should be within 8 hours, make the bed and enjoy the fruit of your labor!

      Egg Crate Mattress

Placing the egg crate foam atop the mattress

The Turmerry Egg Crate Mattress is similar in construction to the Natural and Organic Latex Foam Mattress, so the assembly process is almost identical and takes 10-15 minutes.

Here's how you set up the Turmerry Egg Crate Mattress:

      • Step 1 - Unpack all the boxes and identify which one contains what component.

      • Step 2 - Take the zippered organic cotton cover and place it on your bed base.

      • Step 3 - Stack up the latex foam layers into the zippered cover. Make sure the convoluted surface of the latex egg crate layer is at the top of the stack.

      • Step 4 - Zip up the cover fully, but before that, ensure there is nothing trapped within the encasing that would harm the foam.

      • Step 5 - Make the bed and enjoy the wonderful pressure relief offered by the mattress!

Note: Do not place the egg crate layer in the middle or on the bottom. Always place it on top when you're stacking up the latex foam layers, as it is the centerpiece that offers you additional pressure relief and contour.

      Mattress Care Instructions

In caring for a latex mattress, there are things you must do and things you mustn't.

      Things to do

      1. Invest in a mattress protector. They serve as the first line of defense against microorganisms, moisture, and other contaminants that could harm your mattress. In addition, mattress protectors make cleaning your mattress easier since all you have to do is wash it a couple of times a year.

      2. Air out your mattress in a ventilated room every once in a while. It aids in wicking away any moisture in your mattress and maintains its integrity over time.

      3. Clean your mattress on a regular basis. Gently spot-clean any liquid spillage with mild detergent, water, and sponge. Vacuum the surface of the mattress to get rid of dirt, dust, and food crumbs.

      4. Rotate your mattress every 3-6 months. Bring the part where you place your head to where you place your feet, and vice-versa. Remember - Rotate, don’t flip!

      Things to avoid

      1. Dry your latex mattress away from direct sunlight. Sunlight has a tendency to weaken the latex foam's structure, which can cause it to bounce and respond less and eventually die sooner.

      2. Avoid using hydrogen peroxide. When spot-cleaning, only use mild detergents or soaps, as harsh chemicals will degrade the quality of the latex foam.

      3. Avoid using the mattress before it is completely dry. A mattress that is moist will be more likely to attract microbes, thereby shortening its life span.

      4. Avoid washing any of the foam layers or the cover. Avoid machine or hand washing and instead spot-clean, then allow the mattress to dry completely.

      5. The mattresses should not be placed in a dryer. Like with sunlight, hot temperatures can loosen the tight bond between latex molecules, causing the foam to degrade.
