Padded with a flame-retardant, moisture-wicking barrier made of natural New Zealand wool, it is finished with a super soft, breathable, zippered organic cotton cover that keeps out contaminants.
The Latex Hybrid Mattress offers the best of all-foam and spring-type beds by combining a 2-inch FSC-certified Talalay latex comfort layer with an 8-inch Leggett & Platt® pocketed coil support core. The Bigg+ Mattress is built for heavier sleepers over 230 lbs., combining three extra-firm Dunlop latex layers with a customizable medium, firm, or extra-firm top layer. It can support up to a total weight of 1,100 lbs. Natural wool layers add fire resistance and temperature control, while the soft, zippered organic cotton cover keeps things breathable and comfortable.
The Organic Kids Mattress is a 7-inch all-foam latex bed made for children outgrowing their cribs. It's available in twin, twin XL, and full sizes, with three firmness options - soft, medium, and firm. Latex, cotton, and wool (all of which we use in this mattress) are much healthier materials than memory foam, polyfoam, polyester, and the many other chemicals found in traditional mattresses. Latex is also a responsive, supportive foam that doesn't compromise on pressure relief, making it ideal for developing bodies.
Sleeping is one of the most important acts you perform over a 24-hour period. It soothes your tired bones and clears your brain, allowing them to regain their natural strength. To accomplish good sleep, the mattress holds top priority in a sleeper's routine. Your body rests on this surface, so if it isn't comfortable or supportive enough, you'll start to lose a lot of sleep. A reliable mattress keeps you well-rested every night, ensuring you have the energy you need to take on the day. So, get yourself a mattress that can help you sleep best. A latex mattress is made of latex foam layers and other naturally obtained materials (like wool and cotton). Latex, which is liquid rubber, is obtained from rubber trees through "tapping" and then converted into foams by baking.
Latex can be manufactured in either the Dunlop method, which makes it more supportive and durable, or the Talalay method, which makes it more cushioning and airier.
Latex mattresses are known for their responsiveness, bounce, durability, breathability, eco-friendliness, and ability to conform to the body's shape, providing excellent support and pressure relief.
Turmerry latex mattresses do not require box springs, but we do recommend a good bed frame. For the best pairing, we recommend an adjustable bed base or a natural wood platform bed frame. Adjustable base beds provide flexibility and modern features, while wooden platform beds ensure a breathable, sturdy base.
The best mattress for side sleepers is a soft or medium-firm mattress, providing enough cushioning for the sides and shoulders without sacrificing support for the spine.
The best mattress for back sleepers is a medium-firm or firm mattress, as it offers the necessary support for the lower back and keeps the spine aligned.
The best mattress for stomach sleepers is a medium-firm or firm mattress to prevent the hips from sinking too deeply. Heavyweight stomach sleepers (above 230 lbs.) may need an extra-firm mattress if a firm one doesn't work.
The best mattress for combination sleepers is a medium-firm mattress that balances support and comfort, accommodating various sleeping positions.
The conflict between natural latex mattresses and memory foam mattresses is an age-old tale that has gained traction in recent years. Memory foam originated as a byproduct of NASA research, where it was used to cushion test pilots during flights. Latex has an even longer history, dating back to indigenous cultures in Mesoamerica, where it was used to make rubber balls for ballgames.
Take a look below, and you'll find out how and why natural latex often triumphs over memory foam.
Natural latex, derived from natural sources such as rubber trees, is manufactured with a very low percentage of safe additives (3-5%). The remaining latex foam is completely natural, making the entire bed safe to sleep on. Memory foam is a synthetic material created by combining chemicals with polyurethane. When you unpack them for the first time, they are known to release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during off-gassing episodes.
Natural latex is an inherently breathable substance due to its open-cell structure. It doesn't retain heat when you're sleeping on it, allowing the surface to remain cool. Some mattress brands even perforate the latex foam to increase its breathability. Memory foam, however, holds onto body heat to be able to conform better to your body. As the density of memory foam increases, it becomes more difficult for the retained heat to dissipate. For memory foam to be cool, synthetic materials like cooling gel must be infused.
Foam made from natural latex is responsive to the touch and springy, like hybrids. You can easily move about the mattress because of this. Sleepers who alternate sides or switch positions will adore natural latex. By eliminating the "stuck" sensation that you frequently experience in memory foam beds, you start to feel more like you are sleeping on top of the mattress, not inside it. Memory foam conforms more readily than it responds.
Vulcanization, a process used in the production of natural latex, strengthens and makes it more difficult to separate the bonds between its molecules. This significantly boosts latex's resilience, which in turn increases its resistance to sagging and other wear-and-tear problems. Mattresses made of natural latex have a lifespan of 15-20 years or longer with proper maintenance. The lifespan of memory foam is much shorter, hovering around 7-8 years. Low-density memory foam has even shorter lifespans, typically lasting only 4-6 years before showing signs of sagging.
The best mattress for back pain is a medium-firm mattress, ideally latex or hybrid. It's often recommended for people with back pain because it offers enough support to keep the spine in a neutral position while still providing comfort for a good night's sleep. Heavyweight individuals (above 230 lbs.) may require a firmer mattress.
The best mattress for arthritis needs to reduce stress on the joints. A medium-soft to medium-firm mattress (made of latex, memory foam, or hybrid) is recommended as it provides the necessary back support and enough cushioning to relieve pressure points, which is ideal for arthritis patients.
Heavy people, generally classified as weighing above 230 lbs., require more support than the average-weight sleeper. The best mattress for heavy people is usually a firm one (with latex or hybrid construction). Aim for a thickness of 12 inches or more.
If you weigh much more than 230 lbs. (around 300 lbs. or more) and find that a firm mattress isn't doing the trick, we recommend trying an extra-firm mattress. Or you could also go for an extra-firm mattress topper.
The best mattress for couples is a queen-size or above. Anything below a queen can make you and your partner feel cramped. Firmness and thickness would depend on each partner's preferences. A medium-firm latex mattress of 12 inches usually works best for most sleepers, but if you or your partner is plus-sized, a firmer mattress is recommended.
Split mattresses are also a great option for couples. If you're both unable to settle on any single mattress, get a split version, like the split queen (30" x 80" each side), split king (38" x 80" each side), or split Cal king (36" x 84" each side).
A twin, twin XL, or full-sized latex mattress with a soft or medium firmness is the best mattress for kids. Latex provides great support, comfort, breathability, and durability, which is beneficial for growing bodies. Plus, it's made with safer materials. For younger children, a twin or twin XL mattress is usually sufficient. These sizes are also more space-efficient for smaller bedrooms.
With the steps below, your latex mattress's lifespan is in good hands. You won't have to buy a new mattress for a very long time!
Prevention is better than a cure, the doctors say. The same holds true for mattresses. Don't wait until your mattress is in danger. Prevent it early by adding a mattress protector.
Under no circumstances should you machine wash any of our latex mattresses, as the latex foam will start to deteriorate within a few years. Instead, vacuum once or twice a week to get rid of surface-level debris, and then spot-clean any areas where liquid spills have occurred.
All the dust, dirt, and crumbs from the mattress surface can be gently vacuumed away with an upholstery attachment. Any stain from bodily fluids and liquid spills can be removed by spot cleaning (gently dabbing the stained area) with mild detergent and water.
Make sure you air out and dry the mattress fully after spot cleaning.
Rotate your latex mattress (from head to toe) every three to six months. Regular rotation helps prevent sagging and keeps the foam wearing evenly on all sides, so the mattress support stays consistent over time.
Reminder: Avoid flipping the hybrid and egg-crate models, as doing so compromises the valuable benefits their surface offers.
Mattress toppers are extra layers that go on top of the mattress, changing how it feels. With a topper, you can reduce wear and tear on the mattress surface, essentially preserving it till the mattress topper is no longer necessary.
If you are concerned that adding a topper may reduce the benefits of your mattress, you can purchase one that closely resembles its surface. For instance, an egg crate mattress topper would be the best option if you own an egg crate mattress. Similarly, a latex mattress topper can be used with an organic latex mattress.
We offer all the standard US sizes, from twin to California king. For the RV Mattress, we offer RV-friendly sizes like RV bunk, full XL, short queen, short king, and more. Here's a handy guide to find out which size suits you best:
Our twin latex mattress measures 38 x 75 inches. The smallest of the group, it is intended for single sleepers who are less than 6 inches tall and for toddlers who are outgrowing their cribs. The twin bed is portable and can fit in small spaces (7 x 10 feet).
Our twin XL latex mattress measures 38 x 80 inches. It shares a similar width to the twin but is 5 inches greater in terms of length. Twin XL mattresses are ideal for single sleepers taller than 6 feet. Students and toddlers of similar heights or who are expected to reach a similar height can also go for the twin XL. Similar to the twin, it is portable and can fit in small spaces (7 x 10 feet).
Our full latex mattress measures 54 x 75 inches. This size, also known as "double," is ideal for solo sleepers who want to spread out. It's also suitable for guest rooms. However, it isn't as good for couples as a queen- or king-size bed. A full mattress is an option for couples who don't mind giving up sleeping space, are on a tight budget, or have a small living space.
Our queen latex mattress measures 60 x 80 inches. This is the most popular size for couples, as it can accommodate two people comfortably. A queen-size mattress is also great for single people who move around a lot while sleeping.
Note: For some of our mattresses, you can select the "split queen" option if you and your partner have different firmness requirements.
Our king latex mattress measures 76 x 80 inches. Families who sleep together frequently opt for the king-size bed. They're also a great option for couples who like spreading out. For single sleepers, it might be a bit excessive. But if you prefer a lot of space, then go for it, we say!
Note: Similar to our split queen, we also offer a split king option for select mattresses.
Our California king latex mattress measures 72 x 84 inches. The increased length is beneficial for taller sleepers, particularly those over the 6-inch mark. Cal king mattresses are perfect for master bedrooms measuring 12 x 12 feet or more.
Note: We offer a split Cal king option for select mattresses.
For RVs, we offer nearly 20 compact sizes and accept custom orders as well. You can choose from a variety of bunk, full, queen, and king sizes. We also provide most of the above-mentioned standard sizes if your RV accommodates those instead.
Most people with latex allergies, especially a mild one, can still sleep on a latex mattress. The latex inside the mattress is vulcanized and fully cured, and it’s also encased in layers of fabric, so it doesn’t come into direct contact with your skin. This means the proteins that trigger latex allergies aren’t exposed.
That said, if you have a severe latex allergy, we recommend checking with your doctor first or avoiding latex products altogether.
